Job Summary

This position serves as the Behavior Interventionist for Central Valley Autism Project, Inc. (CVAP). The Behavior Interventionist will work one-on-one with clients/patients and serve as support staff in our autism therapy centers, homes, and/or schools, providing ABA therapy to clients/patients diagnosed with autism. The Behavior Interventionist must be dedicated, patient, energetic, and professional in his/her conduct.

One-to-One and group services are provided to the client/patient to address skill deficits and behavioral excesses using a variety of behavior analytic strategies. These services involve interacting with the client/patient, implementing intervention plans, keeping ongoing data and adjusting contingencies to affect targeted behavior positively. These services occur in the presence of parents/caregivers/teachers/other professionals so the provider can teach them (via coaching, modeling, feedback, etc.) to implement the strategies during other times of day and week, and in other settings.

Daily/Ongoing Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Monitors and records data collection process and data book.
  • Participates in administrative responsibilities.
  • Implements direct intervention/treatment with the client/patient.
  • Reports all information to the Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Assistant.
  • Facilitates peer play training sessions.
  • Shadows client/patient in the classroom.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding the client/patient and the family.
  • Responds in a professional manner at all times.
  • Reports to designated Senior Behavior Interventionist per client/patient team, Clinical Assistant/s, and Clinical Supervisor/s.

​Education

  • Bachelor's Degree - Required
  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in human, social, or educational services discipline or degree related to behavior management from an accredited community college or educational institution - Preferred

Other Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and be able to travel locally and out of town regularly.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid proof of auto insurance and auto registration.
  • DMV Record: Must have a clean motor vehicle record, no conviction or pending driving under the influence prior to and during employment with CVAP.
  • Must clear DOJ/FBI background check, prior to and during employment.
  • Must provide proof of absence of Tuberculosis (TB) at time of hire and every four (4) years from last negative TB reading.
  • Must provide immunization/immunity to Hepatitis B, Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps, Varicella, Pertussis (whooping cough).
  • Documentation of Physical Capability to Perform Services.
  • Permission to Disclose Health Screening Medical Information to required funding sources.
  • Completed 30-hours competency-based training designed by a BCBA (to be completed within 30-day of hire).
  • Successfully pass ongoing/quarterly clinical performance evaluations/overlaps.
  • Completed competency-based training designed by a BCBA.
  • Travel Required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking.- Preferred

Physical Demands

  • Sitting, sprinting, running, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, pivoting, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, climbing, reaching, grasping, eye-hand coordination, twisting, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying, maintaining concentration, initialing personal contact, focusing on multiple tasks simultaneously, formulating and executing a plan of action, 
  • The ability to comprehend and follow simple instructions, perform simple and repetitive tasks, maintain a work pace appropriate to a given workload, perform complex or varied tasks, relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions, influence people. and make generalizations, evaluations and decisions without immediate supervision.

Behavior Interventionist must not share or create situations likely to result in the sharing of any identifying information (written, photographic, or video) about current clients/patients and supervises within social media contexts.
